We love nothing more than having lots of clip seal glass jars filled with all sorts of goodies ready to flip the lid and indulge in some of our favourite sweet treats.
One of our holiday traditions is to have an enormous blue and white speckled terracotta bowl filled to the brim with all sorts of childhood sweets. We take ourselves off to a confectionary warehouse and load up with all sorts of goodies… chocolates, jellies, caramels, toffees, jelly snakes, nougats ….you get the picture.
It’s always fun to watch the expression on family and friends faces as they dig in to retrieve their favourites with whoops of childlike delight.
These are Must Have Holiday Treats that we’ve collected over time and ones that we make whenever we want to have a delicious selection of treats to indulge in.
Easy chocolate truffles are exactly that – easy, and oh so indulgent. Small morsels of pure chocolate, cream and butter melted together, set in the refrigerator and then scooped and rolled in whatever you fancy. In this case we’ve used powdered strawberries, cocoa, coconut and pistachio nuts for variety.
Melt in the mouth, velvety smooth, and decadently creamy. You can ditch the boxed chocolates from here on in!
Christmas white chocolate rocky road is perfect for holiday indulging. Filled with all sorts of gorgeous ingredients…..turkish delight, pistachio, macadamia, soft marshmallows, ruby red raspberry jellies, coconut and cranberries. All encased in rich white chocolate. What’s not to like?
Salted caramel popcorn is simply delicious and moreish. Every single kernel is covered in a rich, buttery, caramel coating. It’s gluten free and everyone loves it. The perfect sweet snack to have on hand over the holidays!
This delicious and moreish recipe comes from Gordon Ramsay, yes, he of the ‘F Word’ fame and it’s hard to stop eating it.
No corn syrup, no thermometer required. Just a little time and ingredients you’ll probably already have in your pantry.
Chocolate and almond toffee dates are divine! OMG! They are a complete winner. Fresh, plump and soft Madjool dates filled with a silky and creamy chocolate ganache, stuffed with whole roasted almonds, then dipped in a toffee casing…..perfect for a holiday treat. You simply have to make these!
Best Espresso fudge brownies are so good. Fudgy, chocolatey and very, very moreish. Everything you want in a brownie, and so easy to make. Need a chocolate fix in a hurry? You’ll have these brownies in the oven in 10 minutes. They’re super quick to make!
Blueberry friands with orange zest are light and tender little almond cakes, perfect for afternoon tea. They can be made in record time, ready to pop in the oven.
There is no creaming or fussing, everything goes into a bowl and gets mixed then spooned into your baking tin…too easy! Theyʼre the perfect bite to make using left over egg whites.
Fudgy chocolate macadamia brownies are simply devine. Moist, fudgy, chocolatety, nutty and all shiny and crusty on the top. Everything a girl wants from a brownie.
Weʼve been making this same brownie recipe for years and never been tempted to look at another recipe. No idea where the recipe originally came from, but it’s called ‘the brownie contingents fudgy brownie. Weʼve Googled that name but nothing comes up sadly, as we would love to give credit to the maker.
Serious chocolate lovers, these are the brownies you need in your repertoire. With a high amount of fat (in the form of butter and chocolate) and less flour, these sweet squares do not hold back.
You can expect an intensely rich chocolate flavor and a dense and super moist texture that just might remind you of chocolate heaven.
Brownies are just that special treat where itʼs almost impossible to resist taking another slice.
Who doesnʼt like coconut macaroons dipped in chocolate? These golden, toasty coconut bites are chewy and moist on the inside. Delicious plain, and even better dipped in chocolate.
Coconut macaroons are a cinch to make and a perfect way to use up egg whites. Ready for the oven in around 10 minutes you canʼt go wrong. They are a perfect treat for children to put together in minutes ……..too easy!
Blueberry streusel muffins are just what the doctor ordered when you’re craving something a little sweet and moreish. Chock full of deep blue, coloured blueberries, I kid myself that the blueberries are very good for me so it must be ok to devour 2 of these in one sitting (or standing). We love the way the blueberries burst and add a fabulous deep purple colour to the muffin.
Nutty Bolts are a winner to have on hand for the holidays. Moreish, crunchy and spicy they’re the perfect nibble to have with a glass of bubbles or a cold beer. Nutty Bolts were an ’80’s trend, but, as we know a good retro recipe never tires.
